Why this matters in Cornwall
Cornwall has strong communities and an active voluntary sector, but many people and the organisations that support them are under growing pressure. Transformation Cornwall helps strengthen the grassroots groups, churches and community organisations that are often closest to local need. More than 27,000 children and young people in Cornwall live in relative poverty — equivalent to around six pupils in an average class of 25.
32,422 households in Cornwall are affected by fuel poverty, representing 12.2% of households — above both the England and South West rates. Around 80% of Cornwall’s voluntary and community organisations are micro or small organisations with annual income below £50,000. Many face challenges around funding, governance, volunteer recruitment and day-to-day capacity. That is why practical funding support, stronger partnerships and accessible organisational development matter: they help local organisations remain resilient and continue supporting people and communities across Cornwall.
