Free Advice First Aid Training with Citizens Advice Cornwall

Are you a support worker or volunteer? Enhance your skills with Citizen Advice Cornwall's Advice First Aid (AFA) training sessions this April! Learn how to assist clients in crisis by listening, gathering key information, and directing them to local or national support agencies.
The training will be delivered by Citizens Advice's qualified trainers experienced in advising and financial capability. By the end of the AFA training, participants will:
- Understand the main "enquiry areas" and how to use the Citizens Advice website as a resource.
- Become familiar with the AFA resource booklet and know how to use it to support clients in crisis.
- Learn what questions to ask to explore a client's situation and identify key information and documents.
- Develop listening and communication skills to obtain crucial information.
- Practice using the booklet and listening skills with example cases.
Participants will receive the Advice First Aid booklet and an Advice First Aider badge upon completion.
Two training sessions will take place this his April on:
- Wednesday 2nd April
- Wednesday 24th April
(choose one of the dates)
The training is in person at Truro Library from 10am-4pm with a break for lunch. Spaces are limited so booking early is highly advised.
