Thank You, Sam: Celebrating Two Years of Dedication and Impact
As this month draws to a close, we bid farewell to Sam Williams, our Campaign Manager and Community Organiser. For over two years, Sam has worked tirelessly to support and strengthen the collaboration between food banks across Cornwall.
His role was pivotal in identifying and addressing the local drivers of emergency food provision. Sam has been the driving force behind the Keep Cornwall Carpeted Campaign, an initiative that successfully garnered significant public and local media attention. By engaging with social housing residents and Town Councils across Cornwall, he managed to build a robust network of allies, a foundation that led to the launch of the Keep Cornwall Carpeted petition earlier this year.
His commitment also extended to the Living Wage local action group, where, alongside the Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum and Truro Food Bank Cornwall, he actively campaigned for fair pay and against in-work poverty. In addition, he played a key role in facilitating the Safer Sick Pay campaign, spearheaded by the Centre for Progressive Change, through advocating and lobbying efforts aimed at encouraging Cornwall's Labour MPs to support an increase in the statutory sick pay rate.
Clinton Sealy, Transformation Cornwall Operations Director, said: 'On behalf of the Transformation Team and our Board of Trustees, I would like to express our massive gratitude to Sam for his dedicated work in addressing social deprivation and food insecurity across Cornwall, and for being such a valued member of our team.'"
On his work at Transformation Cornwall, Sam commented: "It’s been a fantastic experience working for Transformation Cornwall since joining the charity in November 2022. My main work has been predominantly working with the food banks across Cornwall where I’ve encountered amazing staff and priceless volunteers tackling hunger in our communities. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with the broad spectrum that is the charity sector in Cornwall, all working tirelessly to tackle poverty and hardship and create positive change. I’d like to thank all the people I’ve come into contact with in my role at Transformation Cornwall, supporting and encouraging my work. A final thanks to the team and Trustees of Transformation Cornwall for their faith in me, their kindness, and their inspiration.”
Sam's contributions have been invaluable, and we wish him the very best in his future pursuits.
