World Mental Health Day in Cornwall: Community and Faith in Action

Last Friday, Transformation Cornwall attended the World Mental Health Day networking event at the Falmouth Maritime Museum, hosted by Cornwall VSF and Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The day brought together a vibrant mix of organisations, practitioners, and community members to celebrate and explore the many ways we support mental health across Cornwall.

From inspiring talks and creative workshops to music and shared stories, the event was a powerful reminder of the strength and compassion within our voluntary and faith sectors. It was a joy to connect with new people and share the work we’re doing to support faith-based organisations that walk alongside individuals facing mental health challenges.

Clinton Sealy, Operations Director at Transformation Cornwall, said:

“Events like this are a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the work happening across Cornwall’s communities. It’s about connection, collaboration, and recognising the many ways people are supporting one another, often quietly and consistently, in their mental health journeys.”

Throughout the day, attendees could explore a wide range of activities from mindfulness and therapeutic drumming to cooking demos and writing workshop. The marketplace buzzed with energy, offering space for conversation and connection.

Through our work we help strengthen mental health support networks by connecting services, sharing resources, and promoting collaboration across the faith and community sectors. As members of Cornwall VSF’s Mental Health Alliance, we work alongside frontline organisations to improve access to support and regularly highlight services, training, and funding opportunities.
